Five Guys, Belfast

A 3,300 sq ft brand new Five Guys restaurant has opened in the Odyssey, Belfast.  Paul undertook the principal designer’s role on this project.

It involved close cooperation with the client and the principal contractor keeping them informed of any risks that needed to be controlled during the construction phase.  He also coordinated the work of others in the project team to ensure that significant and foreseeable risks were eliminated throughout the design process.

A key risk on this project was that work was being undertaken in a live retail shopping centre so care and attention had to be given to the wider public to ensure minimal disruption and upmost safety at all times.  To ensure this Paul was in close collaboration with the centre facility management.

Paul provided health and safety risk management advice for the successful application of the principles of prevention to their designs using specialised tools.  NI 10 forms were completed and submitted to HSENI.  He also ensured that everyone involved in the pre-construction phase communicated and cooperated, coordinating their work wherever required.
